Why Shalom Merea?
Shalom means peace and Merea means companion and friend, which is at the heart of what I hope to offer in this blog.
When you get to a point in your life that you know longer know who you are, what you feel or even what your own opinion is then you have lost your uniqueness and the world is worse off.
You see, you are created unique and special for a purpose. There is a destiny which awaits you that only you can fill, a story that only you can write.
When we miss our uniqueness we rob those around us of something rare and beautiful.
My journey has finally brought me here, a place where I can finally find peace in who I am. I am not perfect and I do not mean this to sound like I have it all together every day because I don’t. I still have doubts and still question things I do or think or feel, but I no longer do these things as punishment but simply as a means of assessing a situation. I hope a healthy review, one where I can stand strong in who I am despite my faults, instead of having to live up to someone else’s expectations or opinion of me.
It has been a long journey; I have been on my own for nearly eight years, one of baby steps pressing forward slowly but determined to not remain unchanged, a determination to rediscover who I really am. There have been many valleys to go through, but I have learnt that the greatest challenges often bring the deepest opportunity for growth.
This has brought me to today, a deep desire to reach out to others who are struggling under the ordinariness of life and the lonely challenges that threaten to overpower us.
There is hope and you are not alone and I trust that as we journey together we will gain strength by linking arms and walking in friendship.
Many of us don’t ask for help, we are just busy getting on with the many tasks life sets before us. But loneliness is a dull ache that can cloud many of our moments or even days.
A longing for companionship and friendship, an understanding ear that can reassure and encourage us to keep going.
So this is for you and me, a community where we can share and grow, encourage and support one another. A community of people just like you and me linking arms and doing what needs to be done.
Whether alone by circumstance or feeling alone through a challenge, whether at home with family, at work or elsewhere, lets journey together because together we are stronger than on our own.
Eccles 4:12 … two are stronger than one for when one falls the other can help him up.
Friendship is a spiritual thing. It is independent of matter or space or time. That which I love in my friend is not that which I see. What influences me in my friend is not his body, but his spirit.
