A small child eagerly chatters about their day, the fun they’ve had bubbling out as fast as they can before all the excitement causes them to explode and then the conversation changes, they are almost in tears as they share the bumps they’ve had with their “best friend”. Such an assortment of stories and a bundle of emotions but each one a rare gem when shared with their parents. They need to know all their feelings are valued and that they are loved and that Mum or Dad care enough to listen to every crazy and mixed up detail.
Now picture their Mum or Dad before them, bending down to their level so they can see each other eye to eye. Focused on just them and listening to every detail. This precious child now knows they are paying attention and knows that what they have to say is important because Mum or Dad are listening to their every word.
Such a special moment and such a special picture of love, acceptance and value.
Now read this:
“I love the Lord because He hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because He bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!” (Psalm 116:1-2)
This is our Father God, bending down to listen to our every need, listening intently to our every word.
Just as a parent bends down to listen to their childs every word, so does our Heavenly Father pay careful attention to our prayers. All our joys and all our tears, all our questions and all our fears. How amazing is it to know that the creator of the universe loves us so much that He “bends down to listen” to us, His children. Such acceptance, such value and so much love.
Have you shared your joys and tears with him today??
