Although I have been “called to arms” many times before, now is another such time.
There comes a time when we as mothers are “called to arms” on behalf of our family. A time when we declare “as for me and my house – we will serve the Lord” and more importantly, “the devil can take a run and jump” because we are off limits!
As God has drawn me near and reclaimed parts of my heart that have been “off limits” for far too long, I feel an urgency for my family.
He hasn’t just drawn me near so I can rest in His loving arms, be sheltered from the storm and covered by His grace, even though I can rightfully claim all these things. Having lifted my spirit and nurtured my soul, having picked me up and set me back upon my feet, He has also charged me with the purpose of standing tall for my family.
This has been a rough season for my children and now as I stand renewed in Spirit, though still amidst the storm, I see how they need me to stand up for them against the storms they are facing and declare that their lives are “off limits”.
God has called them blessed, they are dearly loved and each one has a unique purpose which He has predestined them to fulfill. His word declares that “I will pour out my Spirit and my blessing on your children. They will thrive like watered grass, like willows on a riverbank”, despite how things seem in the natural. We have a supernatural all powerful God that is able to do far more than we could even ask or imagine.
As mums we must make a stand and declare our children belong to the King of Kings. As a lioness fiercely protects her young so must we be prepared to fight for the hearts of our young ones. Although they may struggle and wander far from home, we must never lose sight that our Father God loves them far more than we do and He is with them always.
We are called to pray, to bring peace, to deliver justice with mercy and grace and to bring joy, so that their spirits may be encouraged and although they may be broken they are never crushed.
It’s not easy by any means and there will be plenty of opposition from all directions but the stakes are too high for us to do nothing, to not pursue the hearts of our children for life in its fullest.
Moment by moment, day by day, declare with boldness, “as for me and my family – we serve the Lord” and He will guide you, strengthen you and carry you.
