You Don't Have to Understand Why!⁠ ⁠ As tears You Don't Have to Understand Why!⁠ ⁠ As tears overflowed and trickled down my face a, not so usual, thought came to mind… ⁠ ⁠ The word compassion and the phrase, “you don't have to understand why!”⁠ ⁠ It caught me off guard...⁠ ⁠ The usual process is judgment and shut down, as if a red warning light goes off and my whole system goes into lockdown, as quickly as possible. ⁠ ⁠ There is freedom in not having to understand why, in the moment, where the tears are coming from. ⁠ ⁠ I don’t have to make sense of them. They just want to be seen, they want to be allowed to ‘be’, to flow.⁠ ⁠ There is so much freedom in that and there's such a deeper truth in allowing our emotions to rise and flow as they need.⁠ ⁠ So often I would judge my tears, I would interrogate them as if they were a naughty child, and I would question their existence and want to know the what, how and why of their presence. ⁠ ⁠ And then I would hold them back and push them down for a more convenient time. Later…⁠ ⁠ Later is not a point in time and so there never was a later suitable to open that lid.⁠ ⁠ Part of growth is realizing that we can’t shut down some of our emotions without affecting others, it doesn’t work that way.⁠ ⁠ I’m learning to observe and allow more, without judgment or knowing why.⁠ ⁠ Allowing tears, tears of sadness, joy, or grief, any number of emotions can be tied up in tears. ⁠ ⁠ Welcome the gift in allowing them to flow...⁠ ⁠ I trust that if there is understanding to be sought, it will come in the allowing, it will come when they feel seen, acknowledged and given space to be there.⁠ ⁠ Grace and Peace 🌹🙏🌹⁠ ⁠ ⁠ ⁠ ⁠ ⁠ ⁠ #womensupportingwomen #supportivecommunity #strongwomen #thrivetogether #women #womenempowerment #heartwisewomen #compassion #trueself #enneagram #personalgrowth #self-connection

Daring greatly means the courage to be vulnerable. Daring greatly means the courage to be vulnerable. It means to show up and be seen. To ask for what you need. To talk about how you're feeling. In order for connection to happen we have to allow In order for connection to happen we have to allow ourselves to be seen, really seen.⁠ ⁠ I've often worn a mask!⁠ ⁠ I've feared that if I was really seen I would not be enough, or I would be too much, and so a mask has covered the sadness or the excitement. ⁠ ⁠ I've worn a mask to avoid not having to share what I don't easily know for myself, what I want or what I need.⁠ ⁠ I've worn a mask to hide the disappointment or pain someone has caused me because that is easier than risking conflict or worse, hurting someone else.⁠ ⁠ I've worn a mask to please others rather than risk disappointing them.⁠ ⁠ Removing the mask can be really scarey, it is exceptionally vulnerable and the risk can seem overwhelming.
